alcohol and liquor attorney Tennessee

Tennessee has always had a complicated relationship with alcohol.

In fact, it was the first state in the country to pass a Prohibition law — making it a misdemeanor to sell alcoholic beverages in taverns and stores all the way back in 1838.

The temperance movement was strong in Tennessee and would continue to exert its influence over the ensuing decades. By 1907, the sale of alcohol was illegal throughout most of Tennessee, and less than a decade later, there was a full Prohibition statewide on the possession of alcohol.

When the nationwide Prohibition ended in 1933, Tennessee would slowly begin to lift restrictions, but not before passing a host of other laws to take their place.

It wasn’t long before the legal landscape became confusing for consumer, manufacturer and retailer alike.

With strong ties to industry leaders and regulators, Waller’s team is well positioned to help you make sense of the sometimes confusing — always challenging — world of liquor and alcohol laws.
