James Bristol is a partner with Waller Lansden. Mr. Bristol has more than 20 years experience in all areas of ERISA, executive compensation and employee benefits. He has served as an advisor in numerous ESOP transactions in privately-held and publicly-traded companies, and is experienced in all other types of business transactions. Mr. Bristol is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward White, Inc.) for his work in employee benefits law. He has worked a broad range of industries including healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing and services industries. Mr. Bristol has represented clients in numerous examinations by the U.S. Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service. He has had significant engagements as an ERISA expert witness. His practice also includes advising clients on related federal and state securities law, corporate governance, financial and accounting considerations.

Stephen P. Emma

Mr. Emma joined Bernstein in 1999 as part of the firm’s institutional practice covering Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. In 2001, he helped found the firm’s Minneapolis office and assumed his current role within Bernstein’s private client practice as an analyst in the Wealth Management Group, which provides wealthy private clients and their professional advisors with the highest level of service and expertise in solving complex issues. In 2003, he assumed responsibility for the Wealth Management Group in the Southeast covering the West Palm Beach, Miami, Tampa and Atlanta offices. In particular, Mr. Emma has expertise in the areas of single-stock analysis, advanced asset allocation, stock options, as well as multi-generational and philanthropic planning; making him a trusted advisor to some of the wealthiest families in the country. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Emma was a discretionary securities trader specializing in the biotech and semiconductor industries. He earned a B.A. degree in Business Economics from Brown University.
