Charles W. Prueter

Bobbie Jones
205.226.5709 direct

Responsive and committed to understanding how legal issues intersect with clients’ business operations and objectives, Charles Prueter assists private and public companies in litigation matters and internal investigations, as well as individuals in federal criminal proceedings. His experience includes successfully defending clients in the banking and financial services sectors against lawsuits brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other federal and state laws, in trial courts and on appeal. Charles has been retained to perform internal investigations relating to violations of both company policies and federal regulations. Charles also has represented individuals facing federal fraud prosecutions. A staunch believer in the First Amendment, Charles has supported, on a pro bono basis, challenges to the constitutionality of political-speech restrictions through amicus briefing at the federal appellate level.

Drawing from his experiences as a law clerk to a U.S. District Court judge and a U.S. Court of Appeals judge, Charles has a valued understanding of the processes by which civil and criminal cases are decided by judges and juries. Charles’s honed ability to narrow and analyze complex legal issues likely to be dispositive in litigation is a useful asset for clients confronted with legal disputes and crisis situations.
