Mike Gardner is an associate with Waller Lansden and practices in the area of trial and appellate litigation. His practice focuses on the representation of companies and individuals in government investigations and civil litigation. Mr. Gardner was named a "2009 Mid-South Rising Star" by Mid-South Super Lawyers.
Mr. Gardner assists clients in federal healthcare fraud investigations, including a recent multi-jurisdictional state and federal investigation of a national healthcare services provider involving allegations of False Claims Act violations. In this matter, Mr. Gardner managed electronic document review in the government investigation of a healthcare services provider; the document review entailed more than two million documents with more than 60 million pages.
Mr. Gardner’s recent experience includes the defense of a third party benefits administrator in a payment dispute with several hospitals and the representation of hospital clients in disputes involving alleged breach of physician recruitment agreements. Mr. Gardner also assisted in the successful representation of a physician in a dispute with a medical device manufacturer that resulted in an multimillion dollar arbitration judgment.
Mr. Gardner recently worked on matters involving in the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and related enforcement actions. Additionally, he assists owners, developers, general contractors and subcontractors in construction-related disputes involving issues of payment, workmanship, design, and completion delays.
