Matt Harris is a partner at Waller Lansden and represents local, regional, national and international companies in all aspects of commercial real estate. He previously led the firm’s real estate practice for eight years and currently serves on the firm’s Board of Directors. Mr. Harris regularly represents developers, communications, supply-chain, healthcare and institutional real estate clients in the acquisition, disposition, development, financing and leasing of office, industrial and retail properties for public and private companies. He also has significant experience in the areas of land use and zoning law, and commercial real estate lending.
Mr. Harris' most recent experience includes national and regional representation of a leading wireless telecommunications company in the development, leasing and acquisition of network facilities throughout the country. Mr. Harris has also recently represented clients in significant sale-leaseback transactions of industrial, manufacturing and retail properties. In addition, Mr. Harris has represented both tenants and developers in a number of build-to-suit industrial projects each in excess of 500,000 square feet. Mr. Harris also represents multi-family developers, recreational vehicle retailers, REITs and third party logistics companies in project acquisitions, dispositions, development and leasing. He also serves as real estate counsel to healthcare providers in the acquisition and development of office buildings and hospitals. In addition, he served as the lead real estate attorney for the world's largest healthcare company in the spin-off of more than 70 hospitals to two publicly traded companies. Mr. Harris has also represented a number of clients in significant office lease negotiations of corporate headquarter locations. He has represented lenders and borrowers in real estate secured lending transactions involving office, retail and industrial projects. He lectures regularly on the topics of land use and zoning law, and commercial leasing.
Mr. Harris is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Woodard White, Inc.) for his work in real estate law and he is ranked in America's Leading Business Lawyers (Chambers & Partners). He was also recognized in the Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar" for 2005 and "Heavy Hitters in Commercial Real Estate" in 2004 and 2005.
