Neil Krugman is a partner at Waller Lansden where he focuses on healthcare and insurance. In the healthcare area, he provides counsel to companies in the hospital, managed care, practice management, pharmacy, retail medicine, diagnostic imaging and dental fields. Mr. Krugman works with these companies on the full range of regulatory and legal issues affecting their businesses, including licensing and compliance issues, state and federal fraud and abuse, anti-kickback and self-referral issues, corporate practice issues, and transactional and contractual issues. In the insurance sector, Mr. Krugman assists insurance companies, HMOs, Medicaid and Medicare plans, utilization review companies and insurance agencies and producers. Mr. Krugman works with these companies on business transactions and regulatory and compliance issues, including admissions, mergers and acquisitions, receiverships and liquidations, new product roll-outs, and licensing and compliance issues.

Prior to joining Waller Lansden, Mr. Krugman was Assistant General Counsel of Equicor, and prior to that he was a Vice President of Cigna Healthplan. Mr. Krugman also worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as counsel to a subcommittee of the House Education and Labor Committee.

His recent publications include an article on retail clinics in the June 2007 edition of the AHLA Physician Organization Newsletter and an article on the Medicare Part D Preemption of State Law in the Spring 2007 edition of the ABA Health Lawyer.

Mr. Krugman has spoken on healthcare and insurance topics before a wide range of industry groups and professional associations, including the Tennessee Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the Physician Insurance Association of America, the Group Health Association of America, the American Academy of Dental Group Practices, and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants Healthcare Conference.
