Andy Norwood is a member of Waller Lansden and has extensive experience in the practice of law as it pertains to intellectual property, including copyright, trademark, First Amendment issues and trade secrets. Mr. Norwood is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Woodward White, Inc.) and America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (Chambers & Partners) for his work in information technology law and intellectual property law.

Mr. Norwood has been involved in hundreds of contract and licensing matters related to acquisitions within the industry. He also has provided primary representation for healthcare clients in matters involving outsourcing, supply chain, payroll function, information systems departments and computer-assisted diagnostic functions. In addition, Mr. Norwood has served as lead counsel in negotiating long-term information outsourcing agreements on behalf of publicly traded healthcare companies. He has negotiated and drafted numerous group purchasing organization agreements related in a variety of fields, especially related to intellectual property. Mr. Norwood was a contributing writer to E-Health Business and Transactional Law, published by the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association.

In the area of publishing, Mr. Norwood has represented more than 50 publishing houses in a wide variety of transactions. He has negotiated the transfer of intellectual property between publishing houses, and he was involved in the acquisition of a publishing house by a publicly traded media conglomerate. In 2004, Mr. Norwood received the Robin Mays Award from the Publishers Association of the South in recognition of his contributions to book publishing in the southern United States.

Mr. Norwood has spoken extensively in seminars and participated in panels on intellectual property issues including copyright, trademark, outsourcing and licensing issues. Recent speaking engagements include “Technology Outsourcing in the Healthcare Industry” at Law Seminars International; “Purgatory - Where Law and Business Intersect” at the Publishers Winter Conference; “SCO v. IBM. The Open Source Dispute” at Nashville Bar Association; “Top 10 Contract Mistakes” at Publishers Association of the South Annual Conference; “Contracts, Conflicts and Copyrights” at Alabama Media Professionals; “Outsourcing: Avoiding the 'Gotchas'“ at a Law Talk Seminar; “E. Commerce in a International Environment” at Association of American Publishers Conference, and lectures in various departments at Vanderbilt University.
