Carol Owen serves as trial counsel to clients in the healthcare, financial services, waste management, and corrugated product and packaging industries.  She currently serves as lead trial lawyer to defendants in a Fair Labor Standards Act collective action and in various securities fraud and misrepresentation cases in federal and state courts.  In addition, Carol has expertise in environmental litigation, serving as trial counsel to defendants in cases such as NRDC v. County of Dickson, Tennessee, and Latvala v. Corps of Engineers

Carol frequently speaks and writes on risk management issues related to e-discovery, litigation holds, and document retention policies.  Most recently, her article “The Duty to Preserve:  Victor Stanley and Its Progeny” was published in the ABA’s litigation quarterly, Proof.  Carol is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named "Best of the Bar" by the Nashville Business Journal.  Prior to joining Waller Lansden, Carol served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Robert L. Echols, then Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.
