Mark Peters is a partner at Waller Lansden. He represents employers in all areas of employment and labor law, including day-to-day advice and counsel and litigation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other federal and state wrongful discharge, tort and contract laws. He also has represented employers seeking to enforce non-competition and trade secret agreements. His experience includes providing legal representation to employers in union matters, including the arbitration of grievances.
Mr. Peters has represented employers in both single and multi-plaintiff litigation in federal and state court and in arbitrations throughout the country. He recently obtained a complete defense verdict in a jury trial seeking $20 million in damages in an employment dispute. Mr. Peters also has successfully defended class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in the healthcare industry and other industries.
Mr. Peters has designed and assisted with the implementation of mandatory Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programs for public and private employers in the hospitality and healthcare industries with nationwide operations.
