Mark Plotkin is a partner at Waller Lansden and practices in the area of intellectual property law with an emphasis on trademark law, technology development matters and software licensing. Mr. Plotkin assists clients from a broad range of industries in the selection, registration, maintenance and protection of trademarks and service marks in the United States and abroad. He has successfully represented clients before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Mr. Plotkin provides counsel to clients with respect to complex outsourcing matters and the development, licensing and protection of software and other intellectual property. His practice further includes the negotiation and drafting of franchise agreements, dealership and distributorship agreements, and domestic and international manufacturing agreements.
Mr. Plotkin is a contributing author to Law of the Internet published by Matthew Bender & Company, Inc., and the 2007-2010 editions of E-Health Business and Transactional Law published by the American Bar Association Health Law Section. Mr. Plotkin has presented numerous continuing legal education seminars on a wide range of intellectual property law topics, including Internet keyword advertisement and electronic marketing laws, domain name disputes, electronic signatures, trade secrets and other trademark and intellectual property law developments. Mr. Plotkin currently chairs the Nashville Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section. He serves on the Executive Board of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and is assistant chair of the International Technology Law Association Education Committee. Mr. Plotkin has been named a Rising Star in intellectual property matters by SuperLawyers.
In April 2011, Mr. Plotkin received his designation as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
