Wes Shofner is a partner at Waller Lansden and practices in the areas of real estate law, commercial lending and secured transactions. Mr. Shofner has extensive experience assembling and acquiring real property for companies in the healthcare, manufacturing and retail industries. He assisted in the acquisition of more than 1,000 acres of property for the development of a automobile manufacturing facility, and he currently advises real estate developers in establishing retail centers. His experience also includes representing healthcare companies in the acquisition and disposition of hospitals, outpatient facilities and nursing homes. As local counsel for a major financial institution, Mr. Shofner prepares loan documents and multi-state financing for real estate transactions. He also represents corporate bond trustees in bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings.
Mr. Shofner has been a frequent seminar lecturer for the Tennessee Bar Association and other organizations on topics ranging from fraudulent conveyances in commercial loans to real estate foreclosures. In addition to his legal practice, he serves on the boards of directors of two finance companies with combined assets of more than $50 million.
Currently, a large component of Mr. Shofner’s practice involves the representation of investors in the acquisition of distressed properties through receiverships, bankruptcies, workouts, and other transactional strategies. He also represents corporate bond trustees in bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings.
