Huntsville Memorial Hospital files for bankruptcy

Walker County Hospital Corporation, which did business as Huntsville Memorial Hospital, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on November 11, 2019. The debtor operated a 123-bed non-profit community hospital in Huntsville, Texas.

Waller served as lead bankruptcy counsel to Walker County Hospital Corporation in its Chapter 11 case. Waller negotiated the debtor’s DIP facility and the ultimate sale of the hospital to the local hospital district, repaying secured creditors in full and preserving access to critical health care in a geographic area that would otherwise not have access to acute care services.
