Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc. announced a joint venture with Tufts Medicine, an integrated Massachusetts based health system with more than 2,000 physicians across the state, to develop and operate a 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Malden, Massachusetts. The project will entail the demolition of the former Malden Hospital and the redevelopment of the site, including a proposed 9.5 acres of community space. After completion of the estimated $65 million facility redevelopment project, Acadia and Tufts Medicine hope to help address the state’s ongoing mental health crisis, with an emphasis on serving as a teaching hospital.
