HCA acquires 612-bed academic medical center in Savannah, Ga.

HCA acquired all assets of Memorial University Medical Center, a 612-bed academic medical center in Savannah, Georgia in a $710 million transaction, which included a $430 million purchase fee to pay off the medical center's bonds and debts and an additional $280 million over the next 10 years for non-routine and routine capital expenditures. The center includes the region's only Level 1 trauma center, the region's only children's hospital, and the Savannah campus of Mercer University School of Medicine.
