Summary judgment awarded in copyright case for hit country music songwriters

Country music songwriters wrote a hit song, and were accused of copying by someone who has participated in a songwriter's workshop years earlier.

Following extensive fact and expert discovery, Waller moved for dismissal of all claims from the country music songwriters. Waller's clients were awarded summary judgment. The U.S. District Court held that the two songs were not substantially similar under the Copyright Act, and dismissed the case.
