Hemp business owner obtains injunctive relief and damages in bitter partnership dispute

A business owner created a first-of-its-kind vertically integrated farm-to-retail hemp business in Tennessee, but fell into a dispute with its business partner. The partner stole business funds, claimed he was the rightful owner, and opened a competing business.

Waller represented the hemp business owner first in Rutherford County court, and then federal court in the Middle District of Tennessee, obtaining first a preliminary injunction, and then later additional relief such as a finding of contempt, sanctions, a successful motion to compel, and attorney’s fees. Ultimately, Waller recovered damages for the client and the competing party left the hemp industry as a result of the litigation.
