Waller adds employment law, bankruptcy & IP experience

Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP announced today that attorneys Flynne Dowdy, Gaby Smith and Saba Daneshvar joined the firm in Nashville recently. Each of the attorneys joins Waller with 5+ years of experience in labor and employment, bankruptcy and restructuring, and patent law, respectively.

“Our clients are already benefiting from the experience and energy that Flynne, Gaby and Saba have added to the firm,” said Waller chair Matt Burnstein. “They are skilled young attorneys, and we’re very happy they brought their talents to Waller.”

Flynne Dowdy represents employers in federal and state courts, mediation proceedings, settlement negotiations, EEOC hearings, and other adversarial proceedings related to allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful discharge. She also helps clients identify potential labor and employment issues and develop strategies and policies to reduce the likelihood of disruptive litigation. Prior to joining Waller, Dowdy gained valuable courtroom experience with law firms in Nashville and Miami. She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County  District Attorney’s Office in Houston. Dowdy earned her J.D. in 2013 from the University of Miami School of Law. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from, Howard University in 2011.

Gaby Smith advises debtors, creditors, and equity holders in out-of-court processes and in-court restructurings. She has also represented clients in connection with the reorganization, financing, and/or acquisition of distressed companies and assets. Prior to joining Waller, Smith gained extensive restructuring experience as a senior associate in the New York City office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP where her practice focused on domestic and international corporate restructurings.  Prior to joining Weil, Smith clerked for the Honorable Shelley C. Chapman at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. She earned her J.D., in 2014 from Cornell Law School and her B.A. in Government and International Relations in 2010 from Cornell University.

Saba Daneshvar is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on several areas of patent law, including patent litigation, patent prosecution and proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has a technical background in civil engineering and experience working with various mechanical technologies. Daneshvar began his legal career at the international IP law firm Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP. He was also a patent examiner extern at the USPTO. Daneshvar earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2015. He received an M.S., with highest honors, from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2011. Daneshvar earned his B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 2009, also from Georgia Tech.
