Waller elects twelve partners in 2022

Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP elected 12 new partners from the firm’s Corporate, Finance & Restructuring, Government Relations, Healthcare Compliance & Operations, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, and Real Estate practices.

Taylor Askew represents clients in complex civil litigation, commercial disputes and internal investigations. Askew was recognized as “one to watch” in 2021 by The Best Lawyers in America.© He was also named a “rising star” by Mid-South Super Lawyers (Thomson Reuters) in 2021. Askew earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2014 from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, in 2010 from Tennessee Technological University.

Catie Lane Bailey is a registered lobbyist who represents and advises clients on legislative and public policy matters before the Tennessee General Assembly, local governments, and various state and local agencies. Bailey is a member of Young Leaders Council, Nashville Class 76, and she serves on the board of the United Way of Greater Nashville Young Leaders Society. Bailey earned her J.D. in 2012 from the Nashville School of Law. She earned B.A. degrees summa cum laude, in Political Science and Communication Studies in 2007 from Western Kentucky University.

Jason Brace assists private equity investors and providers of healthcare services in complex corporate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, joint ventures, securities offerings and other capital-raising activities. Brace earned his J.D. in 2013 from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He earned B.A. degrees in political science and business in 2010 from the University of Tennessee.

Andrew Cornwell advises clients concerning the real estate components of complex transactional matters. He assists multiple national healthcare companies with hospital and health system acquisitions and with leasing arrangements involving medical office buildings and healthcare facilities throughout the United States. Cornwell was recognized as “one to watch” in 2021 by The Best Lawyers in America.©Cornwell earned his J.D., with honors, in 2013 from Emory University School of Law. He received B.S. and B.A. degrees in 2010 from Duke University.

Ignacio De la Huerta advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies in acquisitions, dispositions and recapitalizations in the healthcare, manufacturing and technology sectors. Prior to joining Waller, De la Huerta served as in-house counsel at General Motors and as a senior associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP where he focused on strategic corporate transactions. De la Huerta earned his J.D., cum laude, in 2008 from Harvard Law School. He earned his B.A., cum laude, in 2004 from Harvard University.

Trip Nix represents debtors, creditors and chapter 11 trustees in chapter 7 and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and complex commercial litigation in both state and federal court. Prior to joining Waller, Nix gained valuable experience as a federal judicial extern for the Hon. Harlin D. Hale in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. Nix earned his J.D. in 2014 from Texas Tech University School of Law. He earned his B.A. in 2011 from  Texas Tech University.

Daniel Patten advises healthcare facilities, physician practices, health systems, behavioral health services providers and health plans on a wide range of regulatory compliance issues related to day-to-day operations as well as transactional matters. Patten has been recognized for his health law experience by Super Lawyers. Patten earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2014 from Belmont University College of Law where he received a Health Law Certificate. He earned his B.A. in 2009 from Wake Forest University.

Joshua Porte advises private equity firms and other investors with respect to investments in dental, medical, physical therapy and other healthcare-related enterprises. His experience includes mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint venture agreements and other strategic business transactions. Porte earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2014 from the University of Minnesota Law School where he graduated Order of the Coif. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, in 2009 from Macalester College.

Emma Stephens represents clients in commercial real estate transactions ranging from the acquisition and disposition of real estate to the structuring of debt and equity financing; and the negotiation of construction contracts, management agreements and related development agreements. Stephens was recognized as “one to watch” in real estate law in 2021 by The Best Lawyers in America.© She earned her J.D., in 2014 from Vanderbilt University Law School where she graduated Order of the Coif. Stephens received her B.A. in 2008 from Georgetown University.

Courtney Stone advises creditors and debtors in distressed situations with preparation and successful completion of chapter 11 restructurings and sales, as well as out-of-court workouts, debtor-in-possession financing and other default and insolvency-related issues. Prior to joining Waller, she was an associate with Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Stone earned her J.D. in 2014 from Harvard Law School. She earned her B.A., with honors, in 2009 from the University of Chicago.

Chris Thompson assists hospitals, post-acute care providers, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health providers and specialty physician practices with day-to-day operational and complex transactional matters. Thompson was recognized as “one to watch” in healthcare law in 2021 by The Best Lawyers in America.© Thompson earned his J.D. in 2014 from Duke University School of Law. He received his Master of Theological Studies from Duke University also in 2014.

Thompson earned B.A. and B.S. degrees, summa cum laude, in 2009 from Auburn University.

Nicole Watson is a registered lobbyist who represents the interests of corporate clients, industry groups, professional associations and not-for-profit organizations before elected officials in the Tennessee General Assembly, the United States Congress and government officials in numerous local, state and federal agencies. Watson earned her J.D. in 2006 from Regent University Law School. She earned her B.A., cum laude, in 2002 from Emory & Henry College.
