Jennifer Weaver, Eric Scalzo to lead Waller’s healthcare industry team

Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP today announced that Jennifer Weaver and Eric Scalzo have been named leaders of the firm’s healthcare industry team which comprises more than 200 attorneys advising healthcare providers and investors across the country.

Weaver is a litigator with an impressive track record defending healthcare providers in False Claims Act cases throughout the United States. Scalzo is a corporate M&A lawyer handling complex transactions in the physician and dental practice management space.

About Weaver and Scalzo

Weaver is a partner in Waller’s Litigation practice. She represents clients in government investigations and enforcement actions brought by the Department of Justice and other federal and state agencies. Notable among her experience, she secured a landmark defense ruling for a pharmacy benefits manager in one of the largest False Claims Act cases in the country, and she has represented healthcare providers ranging from ambulatory surgery centers and behavioral healthcare providers to home health providers, physician practices and specialty pharmacies in government investigations and audits throughout the country. Weaver is recognized for her experience defending healthcare providers by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers. Weaver earned her J.D. in 1997 from Columbia University. She earned her B.F.A., with highest honors, from New York University.

Scalzo is a partner in Waller’s Corporate practice. He has extensive experience representing healthcare providers and investors in the formation, acquisition, growth and sale of physician and dental group practices and private equity portfolio companies in the practice management sector. He has earned a reputation as a go-to attorney for dental support organizations and physician practice management portfolio companies who rely on his experience structuring transactions in compliance with state corporate practice of medicine and dentistry regulations. Scalzo is recognized for his transactional experience in the healthcare industry by Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. Scalzo earned his J.D. in 2011 from William & Mary Law. He earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in 2008 from Siena College.
