Advises clients on labor and employment issues

Frederick L. Conrad III "Trip" defends employers against allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful discharge brought under federal and state laws. Trip advises clients on maintaining compliance with OSHA health and safety regulations and with FLSA and state wage and hour laws. Trip's experience also includes labor relations matters, including participating in collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions and defending employers in administrative hearings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) relating to collective bargaining agreements.

He has experience with a wide variety of matters, including:

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Tennessee Human Rights Act (THRA)
  • Tennessee Disability Act
  • Tennessee Public Protection Act

Clients also seek Trip's advice in relation to non-competes and tortious interference and work with him to develop strategies to avoid the potential for litigation in the area of labor and employment law.

Prior to joining Waller, Trip gained valuable experience as a judicial law clerk in U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. Additionally, Trip was a labor and employment associate in the Washington, DC, office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
