A member of Waller’s Corporate practice, Bhavesh Modi supports healthcare organizations pursuing strategic transactions. He assists clients with mergers and acquisitions, various stock and asset purchases and sales, and private placement and investment transactions. His experience includes the acquisition of a publicly traded company’s subsidiary, a medical device company, physician practices, hospices, a veterinarian practice and a critical access hospital.
In addition, Bhavesh works with practice management companies across the healthcare spectrum including dermatology, optometry and veterinary dental surgery. He also has experience assisting fund managers and startups in various funding rounds from pre-seed to Series C.
Bhavesh analyzes client arrangements and operations to ensure compliance with the Stark Law, anti-kickback laws, False Claims Act, scope of practice authority, corporate practice of medicine principles, the TCPA, HIPAA/HITECH, GDPR and other regulations.
Prior to joining Waller, Bhavesh gained valuable experience as a corporate attorney for Winstead PC in Austin, Texas, where he focused on healthcare M&A transactions, healthcare regulatory matters and growth efforts for emerging companies.
He also served as Assistant United States Attorney for the Texas Attorney General’s Office in the civil Medicaid fraud division, where he managed a heavy caseload of qui-tam fraud cases, and as a staff attorney for the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, where he pursued enforcement cases against non-compliant pharmacies, pharmacists and technicians.
